Houston Truck Accident Lawyer – Amtrak Train And Semi-Truck Crash

A semi-truck was nearly ripped in half by an Amtrak train outside of Houston on Friday, and so far there are no injuries.

Police from Houshouston truck accident lawyerton and Missouri City were on the scene of an accident involving a tractor-trailer and an Amtrak train. The crash happened on U.S. 90A and Cravens Street, just south of Beltway 8.

Officials said the 18-wheeler was crossing the railroad tracks and may have become stuck before it was hit by the train, ripping the semi-trailer nearly in half.

There were more than 70 passengers on the Amtrak train at the time of the accident, but there have not been any reported injuries to the passengers or the semi driver so far, according to reports.

The force of the crash tossed the tractor-trailer from the tracks and into nearby power lines and ripped a massive hole in the side of the empty trailer.

Meanwhile, traffic on US 90A and Cravens and west are at a stand-still as crews work to clear the wreckage. Officials warned motorists to avoid the area during this investigation.

Railroad Crossing Truck Accidents

Railroad crossings accidents involving commercial motor vehicles are not completely unheard of, but they do not occur as often as the “normal” truck-civilian car accident. This is partly because it is a very rare occurrence for any vehicle to cross railroad tracks at the same time that an actual train is speeding down the line.

The uncommon occurrence of an event like this makes it even more catastrophic and surprising when it occurs because of the destruction that it can cause.

Avoiding A Houston Railroad Truck Accident

When you are driving in your vehicle, it is best to give 18 wheelers and other commercial motor vehicles a wide berth to operate. If a truck is driving in Houston and about to cross railroad tracks, give the vehicle some time to safety move over the tracks. If a train hits the trailer while it is on the tracks, the resulting spillage will likely damage surrounding vehicles, buildings, and people.
